GREEN CORPORATE CHAMPIONSHIP, 2010
Fulfilling Corporate Social Responsibilities by helping
Kathmandu re-attain its lost greenery |

As part of Clean
Up The World Programme (global environmental initiative
supported by United Nations Environment Programme UNEP that
attracts an estimated 35 million participants from 120 countries
each year), WATO Nepal organized "Green Corporate Championship"
Tournament in Kathmandu, Nepal.
In this special
tournament, team members from the participating corporate houses
not only made fours and sixes and took wickets on their way
towards lifting the first glorious Green Corporate Title but
also fulfilled their corporate social responsibilities, in a
completely new dimension, by helping Kathmandu re-attain its
lost greenery.
The purpose of this one-of-its-kind event was to bring together corporate
giants in raising awareness on the environmental issues as well
as raising funds for supporting WATO Nepal's tree planting
activities.
A total of five
different corporate giants participated while other five
supported the event by providing sponsorship.
On behalf of Clean Up The World Campaign and people across the city, we would
like to thank Himalayan Bank, Bank of Asia, Kumari Bank, SUBISU
Cable, Yeti Airlines, omni group, Nepal Finance (NEFINSCO),
Macro Natshatra and Cooperative, and Cricket Association of Nepal
(CAN) for their support, and commitment towards improving the
environmental condition of the valley.

Green Corporate Championship Cricket Tournament |
WATO "We are the One", an NGO working in the field of environment
conservation for the last 10 years, conducted "Green
Corporate Championship cricket tournament" today on June
19 at Kirtipur Cricket Ground. Himalayan Bank, Bank of
Asia, Kumari bank, Yeti Airlines and SUBISU participated
in the tournament held under United Nations Environment
Programs "Clean Up The World" campaign. Yeti Airlines
won the 5 over league cum knock out tournament with 37
runs beating Bank of Asia's 33 runs.
Paras Lohani of Yeti Airlines won the Player of the Tournament with 85
runs and 5 wickets. Sanjaya Shrestha of Yeti Airlines
won Best Batsman with 54 runs and Naresh Pradhan of Bank
of Asia won Best Baller with 3 wickets.
Organized with the objective of raising awareness about the importance
of trees to conserve the environment, the event was
inaugurated by planting 12 tree saplings around the
cricket ground. Constituent Assembly member "Gagan Thapa"
handed the trophies and certificates to the winners, as well
as certificate of Appreciation for every participants for their support
in this inspiring environmental campaign.
The event was sponsored by Himalayan bank, omni group, NEFINSCO and
Micro Nakshatra Cooperative. 100,000 NPR out of
the generated 140,000 NPR was expended in the tournament
and the remaining will be used to plant trees in Kathmandu next month.
