The need for Open space preservation

"Community park conservation project", and "Chiuri Alley preservation and beautification project" are few initiatives of WATO in its efforts towards bringing together community resources  in conserving and preserving

open spaces such as the community park Gyanewor and Chiuri Alley which is among many alleys in nepalese communities with historical and cultural significance in traditionally serving as important and easy access through different parts of the town.

The need for open space preservation in Kathmandu city is alarming. With the rapid urbanization and increasing population, the city is fast loosing its greenery and public places are loosing their existence.

  • Raise community awareness on open space conservation,environment protection and waste management

  • Community park construction, with community involvement, including children and youth of the community, along with government support such as Kathmandu Municipality.

  • Building confidence among the communities in taking greater development projects towards environment protection and pollution problem in Nepal.
