The need for open space preservation in Kathmandu city is
alarming. With the rapid urbanization and increasing population,
the city is fast loosing its greenery and public places are
loosing their existence.
We are soon planting the first 2000 trees in
Kathamandu. The effort will set out to mark the beginning of
Urban forestry program in the valley; dealing with the
alarming level of pollution problem - the first of its kind.

Projects underway
GLOBAL Inventory Project
In partnership with European Commission and UNIDO,
Blacksmith Insitute has initiated Global Inventory
Project. This project seeks to identify and assess most
of the world's polluted places. The project in now also
funded by Asian Development Bank.
As GIP investigator, Mr. Raj Dip Lama (WATO's project
coordinator) has been investigating polluted places
across the country.
The GIP results will be used to assess the toll of
pollution in human health and mobilize resources to
remediate worst of these sites.
